Freshman Cora Neal (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) scored a season-best 13 points, but the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team dropped an 81-66 decision at Madison (Wis.) on Saturday afternoon.
Neal shot 5 of 12 from the floor while scoring in double digits for the first time this season, but the Chargers (3-3) couldn’t rally from a 46-38 halftime deficit.
Hailey Lovetinsky (Overland Park, Kan./Spring Hill) was the only other Charger in double figures, scoring 10 points. Sophomore guard Katie Droste (Biggsville, Ill./West Central) had five of the Chargers’ 11 assists.
The Wolfpack (3-3) saw five players reach double digits in scoring, led by Aniah Williams’ game-high 17 points. Evonne Strahm added 16 for the Wolfpack, and Jayla Connor had 11 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Sandburg will take a break for Thanksgiving before returning to action at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at home against John Wood.
